Waggin' Trail 5K Walk
A community fundraiser supporting the Kentucky Humane Society
On Saturday, May 17th, 2007, area dog lovers brought their pets and community spirit to the Waggin' Trail 5K Walk/Run in Seneca Park. Sponsored by the Kentucky Humane Society, proceeds from entrance fees went directly to helping animals in our community. Streets in the Seneca Park area were closed to traffic to allow plenty of space and safety for the participants.
The Humane Society was joined by many local pet-friendly businesses who set up booths to promote the event and be a part of the fun. Events included a microchip-a-thon, demonstrations by the Louisville Police K-9 unit, and a canine agility course. Aaron Miller from WXMA-FM emceed for the doggie contests which included prizes for the largest and smallest dogs as well as for the silliest pet trick.
St. Matthews Animal Clinic was proud to be one the many sponsors for the event. We always enjoy spending a beautiful Saturday in the park with our neighbors and dog friends. Watch for another Waggin' Trail coming next summer. Plan to bring your walking shoes and your fun-loving dogs for lots of free dog treats and toys!
