Bark in the Park 2007
The Animal Care Society's Annual Fundraiser
On Saturday, September 29th, the Animal Care Society hosted its annual fundraiser, Bark in the Park, in Seneca Park. As one of the sponsors of the event, St. Matthews Animal Clinic employees had a great time meeting the dogs and their owners who came to enjoy games, contests, agility and training demonstrations, and, of course, lots of doggie treats.
The Animal Care Society is a no-kill non-profit shelter that rehabilitates cats and dogs and places them in permanent loving homes. Bark in the Park is a fun way for the community to support this great cause. A 5K run and a one-mile dog walk helped to raise funds, as well as donations from local businesses who sponsored the event. The Jefferson County K-9 Police Unit was on hand, as well as the Superdog Sports Center with agility demonstrations. The Flyin’ Hounds wowed the crowd with their Frisbee catching, and the crowd got a kick out the second annual Canine Idol contest. Pet owners left with happy dogs and handfuls of goodies from the sponsors.
We are already looking forward to next year’s event to support the animals in need in our community. A big thanks from all our dogs to the Animal Care Society for a fun and educational day!
