MAS "Party for the Animals" 2008

Local businesses join together to support Louisville Metro Animal Services

Parallel 38On April 17th, 2008, St. Matthews Animal Clinic was proud to be a sponsor of a fundraiser for Louisville Metro Animal Services. Hosted by Terri Cardwell of Parallel 38, an upscale clothing shop located in Chenoweth Square, attendees shopped for outdoor wear at discounted prices and enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres donated by local sponsors. Over $15,000 was raised to support the needs of all the homeless animals at Metro Animal Services.

MAS PupMany Louisvillians may not realize why Metro Animal Services is in need of our help. Metro houses on average 400 animals every day and uses 1,100 pounds of dog food each week. They are the only shelter that doesn’t turn any animal away. The staff at Metro currently spends countless hours caring for these animals and providing adoption services. Their goal is to build a larger and more efficient housing facility designed to reduce the stress on the cats, dogs, rabbits, and other animals receiving medical treatment or waiting to be adopted.  The funds raised at the "Party for the Animals" event enabled MAS to furnish their facility with a new microscope, refrigerator, dishwasher, surgery table and surgery light.

MayorThe highlight of the evening included speeches by Mayor Abramson as well as by Dr. Gilles Meloche, director of Metro Animal Services. Everyone enjoyed visiting the animals waiting to be adopted inside the S.P.O.T. Vehicle, which also houses a moving vet clinic providing low-cost veterinary services. The funds raised for needy animals, the lovely spring weather, the food and drink, and, of course, the great company created a perfect evening. Thank you to Parallel 38 for giving so much to our local homeless animals!
