The Focus Is on You

What we are doing to better meet your needs

In an effort to serve you better, St. Matthews Animal Clinic recently engaged a firm to conduct several focus groups.  Our purpose was to find out the ways we could better meet your needs and the needs of your pets.

Emergency services

St. Matthews Animal Clinic refers all after-hours emergencies to three emergency hospitals in our area. By dialing our clinic phone number after business hours, you will reach a message with these emergency numbers, or you may directly dial one of the phone numbers listed below:

Louisville Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Services (LVSES) 12905 Shelbyville Road 502-244-3036

Jefferson Animal Hospital 4504 Outer Loop 502-966-4104

Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists 11800 Capital Way 502-266-7007

Community service

Some focus group participants thought we should work with local animal organizations to demonstrate our commitment to all animals.  We have been doing this for years.  Currently, we offer a variety of services to Shamrock, Animal Control, Woodstock, and Animal Care Society.  These can be in the form of spays and neuters, vaccinations, and examinations.   We also try to help our clients with rescued animals.  And, we donate money to various animal organizations.  We help in these ways because we care about animals and about our community, not for any residual benefit or publicity.  That’s why most clients wouldn’t know about our involvement.

Parking

The condition of the parking lots, both in front and in back, was mentioned and some focus group members wanted to know why we waited so long to repave them.  The alley area is not owned by St. Matthews Animal Clinic.  It is the property of the dentist and insurance company facing Fairfax Avenue.  The insurance company didn’t want to pay for the repairs so we agreed to pay that portion just to get the job done.  In essence, we paid to pave someone else’s parking lot.

The alley between our clinic and Burger King is owned by the city and they waited until they repaired the sidewalk to repave that area.

The area behind the clinic adjacent to Burger King is not owned by us either, so we have no control over the condition of that lot, but we are fortunate that the owners allow our clients to park in this area.

Billing fee

Questions arose regarding the $5 billing fee.  This was added to help offset the cost of mailing statements, which includes employee time for printing out and assembling the statements and postage.

Information

You also asked for more information about pet management procedures and techniques, prevention and treatment of diseases, identifying symptoms, the latest veterinary developments and more. We will continue to supply you with information via our website, pet portals and the Healthy Pet magazine clients receive with their pet's vaccine reminders. If you have a specific topic you would like us to address, please call or email and let us know.

We at St. Matthews Animal Clinic are here to give you and your pet compassionate, state-of-the-art care.  We understand that your pet is a loved and trusted member of your family because we all feel this way about our pets.  And everyone who works here truly cares about your pets as well.
