Pet of the Month
Meet a new pet each month
Meet Jesse, a four year-old Great Pyrenees mix. Because of his sweet temperament and playful personality, Jesse is a favorite at St. Matthews Animal Clinic. He has been a patient at the clinic since he was just a few months old. His adoption papers identified him as a possible shepherd mix, but the staff at St. Matthews quickly spotted his extra dew claws, super long tail and square head, and properly labeled him as a Pyrenees mix. He lives a happy life with his people and the rest of his dog pack, two mixed breed females. Like any happy dog, Jesse gets daily dog walks and occasional trips to the Louisville Dog Run where he always makes new friends. Due to his good looks, he often gets stopped by people on the street who want to know what kind of dog he is. His people answer that he is the best kind, unique and one-of-a-kind.
Now that he is an adult, Jesse’s people appreciate what a fun dog he is. As long as he gets his daily exercise, he is a very good boy. It wasn’t always that way, though. When he was nine months old, he got into trouble regularly. An eighty pound very tall puppy, he was able to reach anything left on countertops and tables without even jumping up. He consumed his share of people food, prescription eyeglasses, ink pens, and even the stuffing from the sofa. Once he swallowed an entire rusty tin can which made for an impressive x-ray. Fortunately, Jesse made it through puppyhood and so did his people.
Jesse wants to thank the staff at St. Matthews Animal Clinic for taking such good care of him over the years. He hopes he won’t need to visit the clinic as much as when he was a naughty puppy. He says he doesn’t mind the trip to the vet too much, as long as it’s followed by a visit to the dog park.
